Animals In Spirit

Many, many of us share our homes and lives with animals. These wonderful creatures give so much comfort and love in the time that they spend here with us. This time however is heart-wrenchingly short and when they reach the end of their physical lives we are left feeling bereft.

Myself and my wife Gwen were privileged to spend many years with Cara and Bonnie our beloved German Shepherd dogs and when it was time for them to go over in to the spirit world we were both inconsolable at their passings. A very dear friend of our s wrote a poem dedicated to our two girls. I hope that anybody who is or has been in the position of losing a beloved pet to the world of spirit will gain the same amount of comfort that we did from Patricia’s words.

A Paw On The Stair

They say you’ll always return
And visit your favourite place
Where love was all you knew
And to gaze on your favourite face

We found it hard to say goodbye
But we really do believe
That we needed to be together
Though we’ll never truly leave

We’re running through the fields now
So happy to be alive
We know you’re sad without us
But our spirits will survive

Please be happy with the new ones
Who have come to take our place
We know they’ll bring you joy and love
And fill up that empty space

Our lives with you were perfect
And the love was forever there
So always believe we’re with you
When you hear the paw on the stair

Patricia’s words could not be more truthful. Our beloved pets do live on. They pass over to the world of spirit in exactly the same that we do. You will have the opportunity to meet up again at some time in the future. They are never, ever lost to us.

If you are having difficulty in coping with the loss of a pet, there are two web sites which may help.
They are www.pet-loss.net and www.ease-animal.org.uk
